Fresh Parvals are green with mostly white stripes. Its size can vary from small and round to thick and long, from 2 to 6 inches (5 to 15 cm). It thrives well under a hot to moderately warm and humid climate. Parval is widely consumed as a vegetable and different parts of this plant are used in the traditional medicine to treat various types of human ailments. It is a good source of vitamin and minerals and contains major nutrients and trace elements like magnesium, potassium and chlorine. It is used as an ingredient for soup, stew, curry, dolma or eaten fried.
